In the News

Immigration enforcement in and around hospitals threatens trust, decreases quality, disrupts health care delivery, and places clinicians in morally impossible positions. This piece argues for concrete, legal hospital policies that protect patient safety, privacy, rights, and staff integrity.

Brian Green, director, technology ethics, quoted by the National Catholic Register.

Early this year, the Datta Center for High Tech Law hosted our highly anticipated Intellectual Property Law: How It Started, How It’s Going conference. It was a remarkable event celebrating 50 years of the Copyright Act of 1976, alongside other key milestones in U.S. intellectual property law, including the Lanham Act, Patent Act, and more recent acts like the America Invents Act and Defend Trade Secrets Act. The conference highlighted how these laws have evolved and continue to shape the IP landscape today.

Leading up to the event, we had fun sharing a series of memes inspired by the popular “How it started, How it’s going” trend, highlighting the evolution of IP law and some of our guest speakers.

A Look at the Conference

The day brought together IP law enthusiasts, practitioners, students, and faculty from across the country. Attendees engaged in insightful panels, thought-provoking discussions, and networking opportunities that highlighted both the history and the cutting-edge developments in intellectual property law.

An Honor to Host Judge Alsup in a Fireside Chat

A highlight of the conference was our fireside chat with the Honorable William Alsup, who recently retired after an illustrious career on the federal bench. It was truly an honor to hear his insights on intellectual property law and the lessons he’s learned over decades of service. Attendees left inspired by his perspective and the wisdom he shared.
